What can an IBCLC lactation consultant help with?

Answer: Common reasons to book include painful latch, positioning support, nipple damage, milk supply concerns, pumping questions, bottle refusal, and building a sustainable feeding plan for home or work. Your visit is tailored to your baby, your body, and your goals.

Answer: If you’re pregnant and want a focused 1:1 check-in, start with the Prenatal Lactation Consult. If you want a more comprehensive foundation before birth, the Virtual Breastfeeding Basics Class is a great fit. If baby is already here and you want hands-on support, choose the In-Home Lactation Consult; for convenience, select the Virtual Lactation Consult. For ongoing support—like returning to work and pumping, bottle refusal, or milk supply concerns—book a Virtual Follow-Up Consult.

Answer: In an in-home visit, you’ll get hands-on, personalized support, including a full maternal and infant assessment. The visit may include an oral exam, breast exam, a weighted feed, flange fitting, latch support, and a personalized feeding plan.

Answer: Yes. Virtual Lactation Consults are provided through a secure, HIPAA-secure telehealth platform. You’ll receive individualized guidance and a feeding plan, with support for common breastfeeding challenges from the comfort of your home.

Answer: Yes—Penny and the Pea offers in-home lactation consults for families in Denver and nearby areas. If you’re outside the Denver metro, a virtual consult can be a great option; reach out to confirm in-home availability.

Answer: At this time, Penny and the Pea does not bill insurance directly and all services are self-pay. After your visit, we can provide a superbill (an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance company) for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, so we recommend contacting your insurer to ask about lactation support benefits and out-of-network reimbursement requirements.
